Crunchyroll’s January 4 Simulcast Announcements

Starting off with Gintama Season 4 which Crunchyroll will stream Sundays starting January 8 @ 11:35 AM PT worldwide except Asia. The series is based off Hideaki Sorachi’s manga which has been running Weekly Shounen Jump since May 2003 and is said to be wrapping up in 2017. The series will be directed by Chizuru Miyawaki at Sunrise. Crunchyroll describes Gintama as:

In a world where aliens have invaded Edo Period Japan, skyscrapers, trains and motor bikes have replaced the simple life of Earth inhabitants. One man however, still carries the soul of a samurai, Gintoki Sakata, otherwise known as Yorozuya Gin-san. As reckless as he is, Gintoki carries his own resolve and is ready to take on any challenge with his fellow companions.

Next is Kemono Friends which Crunchyroll will be streaming Tuesdays starting January 10th worldwide except Asia. The series is based off the mobile game by Edia Co. and will be directed by TATSUKI at Yaoyorozu. Crunchyroll describes the series as:

The story takes place in Japari Park, an enormous integrated zoo built somewhere in this world. A mysterious substance found there, called “Sand Star,” causes the animals to turn into humanoid beings called “Animal Girls”! These new creatures spend every day peacefully with the zoo’s visitors… but after some time, a lost child turns up in the park. The child’s attempt to find the way home turns into a great adventure with the Animal Girls!

Last up is Seiren which Crunchyroll will stream Fridays starting January 6 @ 10:00 PM PT in The US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Latin America. Seiren is an original anime which is related to the Amagami SS series. It will be directed by Tomoki Kobayashi at Studio Gokumi and AXsiZ. Crunchyroll describes the series as:

Shoichi Kamita is an ordinary high school boy, who is faced with the university entrance exam and worried about his future. This campus romantic comedy, “Seiren”, which means honest in Japanese, depicts his pure relationship with three different heroines. Each story is the unique and mutual memory between him and the heroine.
