Crunchyroll’s January 6 Simulcast Announcements

First is Descending Stories: Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju which is the second season to Show Genroku Rakugo Shinju from last winter. Crunchyroll will stream the series Fridays starting January 6 @ 12:45 PM PT in United States, Canada, Central and South America (including the Caribbean), United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and Scandinavia. The series is based off Haruko Kumota’s manga which ran in ITAN from Mar 2010 to June 2016. It is directed by Shinichi Omata at Studio DEEN. Crunchyroll describes the series as:

Unable to forget a performance of “Shinigami” performed by the rakugo master Yakumo in the prison where he was being held, Yotaro’s first act upon his release was go right to the theater, where he begged, pleaded, and was finally accepted as Yakumo’s live-in apprentice. After years of refining his art, Yotaro was promoted to the rank of Shinuchi and inherited the title of 3rd Generation Sukeroku. This celebrated human drama, based on a story by Haruko Kumota, offers an honest and sympathetic look into the lives and livelihoods of rakugo storytellers in the Showa era.

Next is Nyanko Days which Crunchyroll will stream Sundays starting January 8 @ 9:30 AM PT worldwide except Asia. The series is based off Tarabagani’s 4Koma manga which has been running in Comic Cune since August 2014 and is directed by Yoshimasa Hiraike at EMT². Crunchyroll describes the series as:

Konagai Tomoko is a first-year in high school and a shy girl. Tomoko owns three cats. The cheerful and live Munchkin Maa, the smart and responsible Russian Blue Rou, and the gentle crybaby Singapura Shii. Tomoko, whose only friends were her cats, one day becomes friends with Shiratori Azumi, who also loves cats. This is a fluffy and cute comedy about the daily life of Tomoko and her cats, Tomoko and Azumi’s friendship, and the interaction between cats.

Next is ēlDLIVE which Crunchyroll will stream Sundays starting January 8 @ 9:00 AM PT in  U.S.A, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Latin America (Central and South America including Caribbean), Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Netherlands, and Denmark. The series is based on Akira Amano’s manga which has been posted on Shonen Jump+ since August 2013 and is directed by Takeshi Furata at Studio Pierott. Crunchyroll describes the series as:

Middle school student Chuta Kokonose has heard a voice in his head ever since he can remember. When a strange creature recruits him to the space police force, he learns that the source of the voice is a Monitalien, a symbiotic creature who is living inside his body! Now Chuta must prove his mettle to his cold-hearted coworker, Misuzu, and the rest of the department by protecting the universe from otherworldly criminals

Last up is this seasons’ anime out of China in Spiritpack which will be available Saturdays starting January 7 @ 6:00 AM PT worldwide except Asia. The series is directed by Li Haolin at Emon and based off Pingzi’s web comic. Crunchyroll describes the series as:

You Keika, the heir of an old famous family of Exorcists, is stricken with poverty after losing his parents and struggles as a street fortune teller and a part time computer tech. One night at a junkyard, he meets a mysterious and charismatic Exorcist, Tanmoku Ki, who is fighting an evil spirit. To compound his misfortunes, he gets hit by car and becomes a ghost. Tanmoku Ki appears and asks You Keika to make a “pact” with him to fight Evil Spirits together. Here starts the friendship of our heroes!
