Microsoft started their conference strong by opening with Halo 5 Guardians. The past week alone has been a big week for the franchise. This trailer showed a hefty amount of cinematics, showcasing a conversation between Buck, Locke, and even Laskey. Then follows with the Arbiter and Locke having a secluded conversation about the Master Chief.
But from there, it immediately leads into a campaign showcase. On Sanghelios, the Elite’s home planet, there seems to be a civil war going on between the Arbiter and the Covenant remnants. To boot, Master Chief and the Blue Team were rumored to have passed through in search of a Guardian, a hulking piece of Forerunner technology whose role in the story is currently unknown. Locke and his Fireteam Osiris comes into a decimated scene, with things exploding and many Covenant at their last breath. Locke makes use of Osiris’s exclusive Artemis system, which is akin to ODST’s VISr system.
Throughout the fast paced level, a slew of new things were shown. A new covenant weapon, how the fireteam system will work, a new Promethean enemy(Soldier), and a Promethean vehicle. The trailer ends with Locke being denied access into the Guardian by an entity that seems similar to Halo 4’s Didact.
Halo 5: Guardians is slated for release in October 27, 2015.
