Everyone’s favorite football head is returning to the big screen with a brand new Nickelodeon feature film, according to Variety.
A few months ago, Nickelodeon started a new segment on Teen Nick, called “The Splat“, that would showcase classic ’90’s cartoons like Ren and Stimpy, Rugrats, The Wild Thornberry’s and much more from 10pm – 6am EST. This was their response where, instead of completely rebooting the old shows, they will allow old and new fans to watch these cartoons.
To those unfamiliar with Hey Arnold!, you may find it odd that they want to revive an old show 11 years after the initial cancellation as a movie and have it focus on his parents. Well, throughout the show, very little was ever said about Arnold’s parents, since he lived with his grandparents and some other colorful characters. Nickelodeon not only wants to bring viewers over to The Splat, but they also want to fix any missing plotlines from where the show left off. And the best part? They are doing their very best to keep it in the exact same style the old show was made in.
Craig Bartlett, the creator of Hey Arnold!, will be working on the movie. Nickelodeon is also trying to reach out to the creators, directors, and writers of some of their other old shows to see about making new shows or working on their old works.
