Another month has come which means a new set of games are given out for free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Last month, we received Super Dungeon Bros and Murdered: Soul Suspect for Xbox One as well as The Secrets of Monkey Island: Special Edition and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon for the Xbox 360 (and Xbox One through backwards compatibility).
Starting off, on Xbox One, we’re receiving Square Enix’s (known for the Final Fantasy series) Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition ($29.99 USD). Back in January of 2014, we received the critically acclaimed action-adventure game, and now we’re receiving it with a whole new overhaul. The graphics, sounds, gameplay, etc. has been completely updated and includes all of the DLC. The game centers around Wei Shen, an undercover cop sent to spy on one of the most dangerous gangs in China, the Sun On Yee Triad clan. This open-world game has tons to offer, from missions to races to collect-a-thons. This will be available for the entire month of December.
From December 16th to January 15th, we will receive the horror-survival game Outlast ($19.99 USD). Created by Red Barrels, Outlast is the first in a series of games where you play a freelance investigative journalist named Miles Upshur who goes into an abandoned psychiatric hospital in Lake County, Colorado. As the genre suggests, your goal is to make it out alive while not getting noticed and surviving off of limited batteries for a light source.
Moving to the Xbox 360, from December 1st to the 15th, Outland ($9.99 USD) will be available. This Metroidvania-style game was created by Housemarque (known for the Super Stardust series) has the player control a man who has dreams and visions of the past. Throughout the game, you use light and dark powers to kill those of the opposite alignment while also getting upgrades along the way.
And last but not least, Burnout Paradise ($14.99 USD), developed by Criterion Games (known for the Need for Speed series) will be made available from December 16th to December 31st. Set in Paradise City, the game allows the player to participate in numerous types of races in an open world environment. It was the first in the series to take this route, and it was met with widely positive reviews. And, of course, the series has brought back it’s well-known crash system, completely revamped.
An impressive month for Xbox Live Gold subscribers, in my opinion. In total, we’re receiving $74.96 in free games, this month. Stay tuned for a wrap-up of the year in the next couple weeks!
