Xbox Live Games with Gold – January 2017

Another month has come which means a new set of games are given out for free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Last month, we received Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition and Outlast for Xbox One as well as Outland and Burnout Paradise for the Xbox 360 (and Xbox One through backward compatibility).

Starting off with Xbox One, for the entire month of January, we will receive World of Van Helsing: Deathtrap ($19.99 USD) from NeocoreGames, who made The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing that we received months before. World of Van Helsing: Deathtrap is a tower defense game with quite a few action-RPG elements thrown into the mix. It features a campaign that can be played alone or with a friend as well as a competitive mode to show your strengths.

From January 16th to February 15th, we get Killer Instinct: Season 2 Ultra Edition ($39.99 USD). From Microsoft Studios, this is an add-on for the critically acclaimed reborn fighting game that adds eight new fighters, eight costumes, and sixteen accessory packs. It seems that we will, eventually, receive the third season since we got the first season last year.

Moving onto the Xbox 360, we will get The Cave ($14.99 USD) from Double Fine Productions  (known for Psychonauts and the Costume Quest series). The Cave is a puzzle, platform, and adventure game with single-player and multiplayer modes. The game centers around a talking cave that lures seven people into it to learn their dark secrets.

And, finally, we get Ubisoft Montpellier’s (known for the Rayman series) Rayman: Origins ($14.99 USD), a classic platforming game. Rayman: Origins follows the main character, Rayman, as he tries to save all of the Electoons and Teensies in new worlds and old worlds, from previous installments, alike. It features a campaign that can be played with up to four players as well as a multiplayer mode where you can go on worldwide time trials and play a soccer-basketball hybrid in a local multiplayer setting.

An fantastic start of the new year for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. In total, we’re receiving $89.96 in free games, this month. What do you think of this month’s games?
