Xbox Live Games with Gold – June 2016

Another month has come which means a new set of games are given out for free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Last month, we received Defense Grid 2 and Costume Quest 2 for Xbox One as well as GRID 2 and Peggle for the Xbox 360 (and Xbox One through backwards compatibility).

Starting with Xbox One, Gold subscribers are able to get Coffee Stain Studios‘ (known for the Sanctum series) Goat Simulator ($9.99 USD), an action game set in an open world sandbox environment. Originally made as a joke, the game became very popular through social media due to it’s hilarious nature and non-game breaking bugs. There’s no ultimate goal, the player just takes control of a goat and runs around the map wrecking havoc and unlocking more goat costumes which sometimes include new abilities. Goat Simulator will be available for the entire month of June.

OnTHECREW_Miami_01_107749 June 16th, The Crew ($29.99 USD), a racing game developed by Ivory Tower and Ubisoft Reflections (known for the Driver series) will be made available until July 15th. The Crew released back in December of 2014, making it one of the newest games to release on Games with Gold. Being an online-only game, it was made to allow players to experience a different aspect of racing games, allowing players to create their own race tracks by driving throughout America.

For Xbox 360, from June 1st to June 15th, Team Meat’s Super Meat Boy ($14.99 USD) will be available. Super Meat Boy is a platforming game where you play as Meat Boy as you go through many levels to save your girlfriend, Bandage Girl, from the evil Dr. Fetus. You have to jump around obstacles like saws, falling blocks, and numerous enemies.

XCOM-Enemy-Unknown-31And, finally, from June 16th – June 30th, XCOM: Enemy Unknown ($39.99 USD) from Firaxis Games (known for the Civilization series) will be free to download. XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a turn-based tactical role-playing game where the player controls a militarized team of people to stop aliens from destroying Earth. You are able to deploy your team onto missions and, in between, you’re able to research technology, handle finances, extort prisoners, expand your base, and much more.

Not a bad month at all for Xbox Live Gold subscribers, if I do say so, myself. In total, we’re receiving $94.96 worth of games this month for free, which is relatively high compared to the $65 we received last month. What do you think of this month’s games? What do you want to see in future months? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us at @BlazeKickTweet or at my personal Twitter, @GeminiTrinity.
